The latest 4G smartphone from Energizer is now available in South Africa. The Power Max P490S – launch announced on Monday, 2 September 2019 – is said to come with a smart 18:9 4.95” screen, a powerful 4000 mAh battery, 4 cameras and a fingerprint unlock function.
“This is a powerful device at an extremely affordable price point. The battery lasts 16 days in standby mode and 10 hours in constant use. You don’t need to worry about running out of power with the Power Max P490S which has become a very real concern in South Africa with the constant load shedding that we have become accustomed to.” says Colin Williamson, Managing Director for Pure Distribution.
Energizer notes that the P490S’ 4.95” FWVGA screen has a light sensor which adjusts the screen brightness according to external light levels – this way ‘users can enjoy bright colours’ while watching videos. The device comes with 2 rear cameras (8MP + 0.3MP) and 2 front cameras (5MP + 0.3MP) so that users can ‘capture every little detail’.
The Power Max P490S also has a Mediatek MT6739 Quad-Core 1.3 GHz processor, 16GB (ROM) + 2GB (RAM) of internal memory and runs Android Oreo. It can easily connect to WiFi on top if its 4G/LTE capabilities and it can also turn into a hotspot.
Along with its dual-SIM phone and SD card slot (memory up to 32GB), the P490S comes with a proximity sensor which detects when the distance between the phone and other items changes and an accelerometer (orientation sensor) which detects the phone’s angle, position and speed.
Lastly, the device is developed a standard and easy-to-use fingerprint reader that unlocks the phone in less than a second.
The Energizer Power Max P490s has a recommended retail price of $125 (R1,899.00) and is available through Takealot, Incredible Connection and Makro.
